I have a disability/live with illness that causes limited mobility. Do you mean yoga and dance is for me, too? Yes! Alison has worked with people in wheelchairs, those living with chronic pain and neuromuscular conditions including multiple sclerosis and cancer, those who are bedridden or recovering from injury or illness, and yogis in their 80's and 90's. If you have a physical disability, neuromuscular conditions, or chronic pain or illness, get clearance from your doctor to practice yoga before attending class. From there we'll work together to identify your specific needs and limitations to ensure you have a safe foundation to stay safe and happy in class.
What should I expect at your public yoga classes? Alison's classes pull from vinyasa, yin, and restorative styles - and dance. Expect cues that encourage playfulness, creativity, and for you to be fully yourself as you practice. Variations and ways to use (and celebrate!) props are always present, alongside carefully curated playlists and a global community of yogis of all ages.
I'm not comfortable in or don't want to purchase traditional yoga attire like leggings and sports bras. What do I wear to class? There is no dress code or uniform. The most important thing is that you're comfortable and you have space to move and breathe. Go ahead and rock your sweatpants, t-shirt, onesie, whatever!
I'm not flexible. What happens then? There's no such thing as "too" anything. Alison approaches her sessions knowing have your own set of tools, and that your body is a yoga body. You'll work together to find a practice that celebrates what you can do and how to gradually build the strength and mobility within that.
