When we put stories into our bodies, we don't forget them |
- Liz Lerman
With professional dance training, ongoing professional development in facilitation, and creative collaborations with artists and performers, I use movement and creative expression to tell stories, encourage compassion, and bring people together.
Dance and Creative Movement Workshops
My workshops for community building and groups lead participants through group warm ups and exercises to engage the body and brain and explore the wisdom and stories we discover through physical movement. These workshops provide a safe space for participants and an opportunity to move around freely and use creativity in a new way.
Creative movement workshops are tools for building community and connection among a group, starting conversations, and uncovering our creativity and inspirations. I work with each group or host to identify the goals and hopes for the creative movement workshop and design an experience to best serve the mission and personalities of the group. Workshops can be centered around a theme, question, or just with the purpose to connect and get moving together. Workshops may include improvisational exercises, prompts to create personal dances, learning choreography, breathing techniques, and group discussion.

Social and Wedding Dance Lessons
I know that going to a party that involves social dancing (weddings, Bar or Bat mitzvahs, etc.) can sometimes be nerve-wracking. I know those nerves, and how it can make a whole evening feel uneasy – and no fun. I offer private and small group social dance lessons to help you feel more confident and smooth at your next special event. Whether you want to learn steps of popular line dances, how to dance elegantly with a parter, or find your own expressive style, I'll help you feel more comfortable (and maybe even showing off) on the dance floor.
For soon-to-be newlyweds, I got you, too! I coach wedding couples to learn how to move comfortably and elegantly together, tune into the music, and excite your guests with simple stylized moves like turns and dips, or a full choreographed routine.

We can't say enough about Alison. My fiancé and I were panicking about our first wedding dance and how to pull it off in front of 200 people. Swaying back and forth just wasn't going to cut it. I'm so grateful I found Alison. She is energetic, patient, and so sweet. She started with the basics and by the end of 90 minutes, taught us how to do various turns, dips, transitions. She made us feel so relaxed and encouraged us to bring that into our dance. We practiced at home for an hour or so and felt very comfortable with our new routine. I would highly recommend Alison for any other couples nervous about dancing in front of a large crowd or even just nervous at the thought of attending a dance class. |
