DUET ROULETTE
Duet Roulette brought together performing and visual artists of the DC community for an afternoon of inspiration and surprise by randomly pairing together participants to make short duets on the spot. Hosted by Alison Waldman and ReCreative Spaces, Duet Roulette is an informal, collaborative creative laboratory – a space to play with your artistic talents or explore curiosities in a new form by having an art-conversation with a fellow artist.
Amateurs and those curious about a certain skill were invited to come try it on in a safe space. Professional artists were invited to test out new ideas and and challenge their ability to improvise. Open to ALL - non-professionals, professionals, youth, and groups welcome, Duet Roulette has seen tap dancers, poets, sketch artists, sign language interpreters, guitarists, beatboxers, fiddle players, singers, triangle players, and more collaborate together.
Plus, an audience - anyone could grab a drink from the ReCreative Spaces bar, sit back, and watch the magic unfold.

“Duet Roulette was outrageously fun to improv with others, even though I had no idea what I was doing. Watching other people was mesmerizing.” –Nathaniel Counts, November participant
“Duet Roulette a forum for adults to play. The people that come arrive as strangers and quickly become an incredibly supportive group of amateurs and artists.” - Sadie Leigh, March & November participant
“Duet Roulette is socially exciting. It is a way to hang out and meet others that is exciting AND a way to share my artistic ideas in a low-key atmosphere. As the it went on, I felt more and more that I can could take on any art form - even if just as an amateur. It was just great.” - November participant
