Overview
Desk Chair Stretch & Office Yoga
I lead brief and effective stretch and mindfulness breaks in corporate and nonprofit offices for employees. Desk chair stretch sessions are conducted in conference rooms and in business attire. Office yoga sessions are gentle, more traditional mat classes that take place in or nearby your office location. Both specially designed for the modern day desk-worker and use breathing and light stretching exercises to improve stress management, alignment and posture, and relieve neuromuscular tension. Clients range from nonprofit to corporate. Learn more about the benefits of employee wellness and my services here.

Jewish Yoga
On faculty at the Jewish Mindfulness Center of Washington and in regular collaboration with Sixth & I, I facilitate ongoing and special Jewish-based programming including holiday-themed workshops, meditation and yoga classes, Rosh Chodesh Lunar Flow and women's circle. Jewish yoga welcomes people of ALL faiths and backgrounds who are curious about Jewish tradition, practices, and modern interpretations, and how they intersect with those of yoga. My classes are secular in nature and can serve as an introduction to or deepened understanding of Jewish teachings as spiritual guidance in the modern world, in conversation with practices from numerous other traditions.

Yoga 101: A Pre-Studio Primer
Part conversation, part private lesson, my Yoga 101 Primers are designed for first-time practitioners of all ages and abilities who want a boost of knowledge and confidence to begin a regular yoga practice that is safe, nourishing, and fun. We'll review the different kinds of yoga what to expect in class, break down the basic poses and "yoga-speak", and analyze your body's natural flexibility and strengths to identify the best modifications and challenges to safely grow your practice. I'll also share a brief history of yoga and my favorite resources on how to apply what you learn from yoga off the mat.

Wellness and Arts Integration in Healthcare
As Resident Movement Artist with the Georgetown Lombardi Arts & Humanities Program (AHP), I lead stretch breaks for medical, building, and administrative staff at Lombardi Comprehensive Care Center and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. I also coordinate on-site performances and art encounters for patients, staff, and caregivers and co-lead a movement class piloting research on the impacts of dance for people living with multiple sclerosis in partnership with the hospital’s Department of Neurology. AHP exists to promote an optimum life experience for patients, family and medical caregivers with events, resources, education and environments that encourage a creative and constructive response to illness. The program is at the national and international forefront of the rapidly developing research and field of arts and healthcare.

Wedding Dance and Social Dance Lessons
Ease your nerves about your first dance or dancing in general at parties and functions with a private couples and social dance lesson. Learn the basics of how to move comfortably and elegant with your partner, tune into the music, and excite your guests (or dance partner) with simple stylized moves like turns and dips, or a full choreographed routine.

We can't say enough about Alison. My fiance and I were panicking about our first wedding dance and how to pull it off in front of 200 people. Swaying back and forth just wasn't going to cut it. Fortunately, I found Alison through a connection at work, and I'm so grateful I did. She is energetic, patient, and so sweet. She started with the basics and by the end of 90 minutes, taught us how to do various turns, dips, transitions. She made us feel so relaxed and encouraged us to bring that into our dance. We practiced at home for an hour or so and felt very comfortable with our new routine. I would highly recommend Alison for any other couples nervous about dancing in front of a large crowd or even just nervous at the thought of attending a dance class. |
